I live in LA and I am building ContrastLocal the way I wish directories worked: clear neighborhoods, real pricing, booking links, and honest home gear tradeoffs. No spa hype. No paywalled listings. I personally research studios and gear so the pages stay useful, not scraped fluff.
What ContrastLocal is
ContrastLocal is a practical directory for heat and cold in one place: sauna and cold plunge studios by city, plus clear home gear comparisons when a membership is not the right fit. Neighborhood, modalities, pricing, booking link. Done.
Live cities right now: Austin, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, and Seattle. We thicken pages and add cities as we verify studios from public sources, and I prioritize firsthand LA visits so the home-city page stays the flagship.
What you'll find here
-
City guides
Studio directories with neighborhoods, formats, and booking links.
-
Studio listings
Modalities, published hours, ClassPass notes, and visit details when we have them.
-
Pricing notes
Published drop-in bands and membership ranges when operators share them.
-
Home gear comparisons
Honest tradeoffs for saunas, plunges, and chillers without spa hype.
How we research
We research public booking pages, studio sites, and other open sources, then re-check periodically. Hours, prices, ClassPass status, and plunge access change. Always verify with the studio before you go.
Our editorial principles
-
Useful over hype
Neighborhood, modalities, pricing, and booking links first. Skip the spa-luxury marketing copy.
-
Honest and transparent
We leave a field blank rather than guess. Research methods are public, and listings are not pay to play.
-
Built for real people
Written for people who actually book sessions or buy gear, not for wellness brand decks.
What ContrastLocal is not
Nothing here is medical advice. Contrast therapy stresses your body on purpose. If you have health questions, talk to a clinician. ContrastLocal is also not luxury-spa hype: no paywalled listings, no invented metrics, and no spa-marketing fluff.
Affiliate disclosure
Affiliate disclosure: Some outbound product links may become affiliate links over time. Studio listings are editorial and are not paid placements unless marked otherwise. We only recommend products and studios we would consider ourselves.
